Bridge Page Functionality and Customization

When deep linking is enabled on a TUNE link, i.e. existing users are detected and taken straight inside the app itself whereas new users are taken to the app store to download the app, we display a bridge page from which existing users are quickly redirected straight into the app and new users are redirected to the app store. The bridge allows Attribution Analytics to detect a user’s status as either new or existing, thus enabling us to determine the best user experience/path for each user.

Bridge Page Functionality

When a user clicks on a TUNE link for which you have enabled deep linking, the user briefly sees a bridge page before being automatically redirected to the appropriate location (i.e. app store or in-app). Upon redirect, we set a cookie to disable further automatic redirection for a period of 5 minutes. Without this cookie, users navigating back to their browser would automatically be redirected to the app store or app open again.

Once that same user then navigates back to their browser, they are not automatically redirected (if within the 5 minute window) and instead can navigate away from the bridge page as they see fit. Without this functionality, all users would be essentially blocked from using their browser and could only use it again by manually restarting the browser.

Bridge Page Customization

For all Android devices, the bridge page contains:

  • Bridge page title = App name or icon as set in your Attribution Analytics account when adding your app. To change your app’s icon, please contact [email protected].
  • Download button = Destination URL to download app from corresponding app store.
  • Open button = Deep link URL to open the app. Only visible if a deep link URL is associated with the TUNE link.

For iOS devices running 9 Safari and above, the bridge page contains:

  • Bridge page title = App name or icon as set in your Attribution Analytics account when adding your app. To change your app’s icon, please contact [email protected].
  • Download button = Destination URL to download app from corresponding app store.
  • Open button = Deep link URL to open the app. Only visible if a deep link URL is associated with the TUNE link.

For iOS devices running below 9 Safari, the bridge page is entirely blank.

Customizing Button Links on the Bridge Page

The links used for both buttons on the bridge page are determined by your choices when generating a TUNE link. The Download button uses your selected destination URL, and the Open button uses your selected deep link URL.
